I backtracked north from the Oberhornsee then turned toward Im Tal and Lager, but if I had to do it over again, I would have headed east from Oberhornsee and crossed the river above the Schmadribachfall, but either way is great. You can take a trail that branches off the Kilchbalm - Gimmelwald trail shortly before you reach Gimmelwald itself. It’s super – that’s Switzerland! As the map shows, you’ll actually start by heading west and going down into that 1st drainage and then climbing up on the other side headed in a southerly direction. Also, the gondola to gimmelwald is only 6 Francs :). The first time it was really cloudy and misty the whole time and we could not see all the views in front of us, but when we got to the top it started to snow! We had wine, soup and a sandwich. We skipped both of those. However, we were told it wasn't there a decided to skip it. We completed this hike twice, 4 days apart, due to the first hike being completed in clouds with close to 20-50m visibility in below freezing conditions, and knowing what switzerland is, I knew we were walking past some jaw-dropping views, plus the reason we did this hike was because I wanted to hike to the glacier/point where the Lauterbrunnen River starts, and having poor conditions meant we were unable to find the answer.
