I poured myself a glass as I cooked and enjoyed making this recipe. Prep Time. Added more sour cream. This looks so good. I added greek yogurt as a replacement some of the sour cream. But, all in all, the flavor is awesome! Back to my childhood and moaning over this dish.

I usually use a little less vinegar than the recipe calls for because it’s a little more potent. Very simple to assemble and the slow cooker does the work for you. I also used fresh dill instead of parsley on top, and it was divine. Try using a 12oz package of egg noodles instead of 8oz. So yes if is a common thing.

I intended making your recipe to the letter until I remembered stew meat is tough as heck! My husband and I hate whole mushrooms so I use cream of mushroom soup instead and add it after the wine. just ALL of it, really.

The ultimate in comfort food for a stay-at-home pandemic! My only complaint was the sauce was too soupy, I thought 4 cups of beef stock was too much. I made this the other night and it was so delicious and flavorful! Cooking the egg noodles in the same dish cut down on fuss and mess. This is DELICIOUS. It was very easy to prepare, with very little to clean up.

I have found that one pot recipes are very finicky when doubling so if you require additional servings, I recommend making this twice – sorry! Set it and forget it! It is very simple, but this is the original version.

As others have said, it’s a wet consistency, which is fine for beef stroganoff because you have the noodles to balance that out. Except in this recipe, the noodles are equally wet and it’s just too damn heavy. Since I had so many meatballs (hey, I have been stir crazy) I used them instead of ground beef.

Substituted Steak tips from Butchebox which I dredged in the 3 tablespoons of flour. The wine helps to deglaze the burned bits quite well, I imagine it is good with ground beef but this was quite a delicious treat with stew meat, too. Delicious! Now you can make everyone’s favorite stroganoff in ONE POT with ground beef! I would recommend crushing the dried thyme until it is powder-like in consistency (you know how it is a little thicker in textture than other spices) and maybe use half the amount called for. Ground beef makes this stroganoff sauce a quick, tasty comfort food served over noodles or mashed spuds. My toddler “helped” me cook and she devoured her bowl at the dinner table. This is a fairly lean version of beef stroganoff, as most recipes call for more cream. I was actually able to set up my “Mise en place” as I cooked.

I used to prepare it the traditional way, with sour cream, but I didn't have any one night, so I used cream cheese instead.

Everything else was the same. I cooled the pot significantly before adding sour cream, to prevent the cream from breaking.

Serve over noodles to your liking. Not too soupy! I added a little more sour cream and the generous dash of nutmeg we think “makes” stroganoff.
